Have you ever looked at the menu for a new restaurant and almost teared up a little because everything looks amazing and you can't order it all at once? I recently had that experience with Abigaile in Hermosa Beach. Two blocks from the beach and boasting an ocean view, this place has a great location on top of the incredible food. We went for brunch and I cannot wait to go back and try out their dinner menu.
We started with an order of their "Pao de Queijo", which are basically cheese biscuits with whipped bacon maple butter. Yeah, let that sink in. Whipped. Bacon. Maple. Butter. They describe them on their menu as "ooey gooey", so I was expecting them to be drenched with cheese and was so happy when they were not. They're actually pretty light and soft with a slightly cheesy center. I wanted another order they were amazing.
My mom ordered the Fish and Chip Sando without the bread. I'm not one for fish in the morning, but she loved it and those tots were the best I've ever had. So crispy but still soft on the inside.
My boyfriend ordered the Dirty Bird Benedict. Everything about this was amazing, especially the sage biscuit sitting under that piece of chicken. Even better than our starters. There's a poached egg on top of the chicken and everything is drizzled with their hollandaise and maple syrup.
I finally decided on their version of corned beef hash. That's what those patties are on bottom, filled with corned beef and shredded potatoes, and each one topped with a perfectly poached egg (not too runny but not completely solid) and a wonderful herb sauce. Out of everything, I think this was the best item we ordered. Not that that's saying much because everything was incredibly delicious. Traditional food, but different enough that you feel like you're not going to the same boring brunch that you go to every weekend.
I can't wait to come back for dinner!
